Animal Rescue at Heart

Becca has always loved animals. Even as a child watching Jurassic Park she told her mom, "T-Rex isn't mean, he's just hungry". She rode horses at a young age and was always with the family dog. In 2017 she truly started to follow her rescue heart. Her father decided to rescue a horse from a ship pen who had the potential to go to a slaughter house in Mexico. This kick started it all.

Meet the Animals

Moonshine

Moonshine is the original horse my dad decided to rescue. She was very sick from traveling for close to a year from ship pen to ship pen. Luckily, a ( now dear friend ) spotted her when they went to rescue another horse. With the help of friends we nursed Moonshine back to health with natural remedies. The rest is history. Moonshine is an absolute delight & we recently had our first ride together in the mountains of North Carolina.

Rainbow the Pony Mule

Rainbow is a chocolate palomino pony-mule. She came from a ship pen too. We picked up her along with her buddy Bubba ( now an angel ) , Vito the Donkey, & Enza the pony mule. Rainbow was extremely skittish and it took us a month for her to allow us to pet her. That was a magical moment. We are still working with her and making progress. She is a healthy, hardy, smart, & stubborn girl for sure.

Buck the Hound

We have had Buck for years. He was my first dog on my own and he came from an awesome rescue in North Georgia. He is the most lovable, kind -hearted, beautiful souled being on this planet. He is indescribable but, when you meet him you just get it! He's our baby for sure.

Poe

Poe came from the Atlanta Humane Society. He was brought there from Hilton Head when they were in the midst of bad storms. Sometimes we wonder if he was meant to be  a feral beach cat with his wild antics. We love him no matter what!

The Chickens

I have been wanting chickens for YEARS! When I went to visit Save the Horses ( check them out at SavetheHorses.org ! ) they mentioned they had an abundance of bantam chickens. That was that! These guys came from an awesome place and their little personalities show it. We added one more little bit to the flock recently too! 7 total. Dottie, Basil, Pearl, Clint, Willie, Olive, & Scooby.

Sweet Bubba

Sweet Bubba is now our angel. He came from the ship pen the same time we got Rainbow, Enza, & Vito. Bubba was a black pony mule with a gentle heart. He started showing signs of illness and declined fast. We were thankful he got to pass in the arms of love and not at the ship pen or slaughter house. It turns out Bubba tested positive for a contagious disease and this is was triggered me to start taking action in animal rights. Bubba's life keeps me inspired to stand up for the way humans treat animals on a daily basis. He could have lived a long healthy life but, we will not let his life pass in vein. We love and miss this sweet boy!

Vito & Enza

These guys came from the ship pen too! They now live happily ever after at my moms farm in Travelers Rest, SC. Vito was very sick at first but, we got him healthy. Enzo initially wasn't going to be a pick up but, when we loaded our trailer up she squealed and cried so loud we had to add her on. While she stayed with us in GA she MAGICALLY jumped the fence and caused the neighbors horse to escape. She was happy to be free! Enza is a beautiful palomino mule and Vito is a sweet donkey. They are best friends for life!

Lily - the latest

We live out in the country. We see tons of dogs wandering around constantly and try to help if we can but, thats just how some of them live. Marshall and I were on our way to breakfast when he saw this momma dog following some joggers. We were able to get her in the car and have been working to find her owners but, it has not happened yet. Chances are high she was dumped. She is staying with us and getting healthy & up to date on shots thanks to the group PartnersofPickensPets.org !

Love Animals

Animals need humans to help them stay safe. The human race has been breeding these animals into the world forever. They are now overpopulated and man uncared for. This goes for the cats & dogs all the way to the horses, mules, & donkeys. Next time you want a pet please consider adoption. These animals need us to make a change for the better. We brought them here so let's make this earth a safe place for them to thrive.
